About 'home health care assistance'|Part 1: Home Health Care – How to Pick the Right One For YOU!
Over the past few years health care has been revolutionized. The health care field is overflowing with huge technological advancements and achievements. The internet, tele-medicine, e-visits, cell phones, e-mail and EMR's (electronic medical record) have all impacted health care in a positive way. These technological innovations have made the delivery of health care much easier for the patient and physician. Health care is now more easily accessed, diagnosis of illness is less delayed and diagnostic tests are read faster and transferred to the primary physician through the internet. Each of these advances helps health care facilities and health care professionals provide better quality care for their patients. Imagine the Possibilities When the World Wide Web was being developed, no one could have imagined the possibilities for the enhancement of the medical field. With today's internet service it is possible for an increasing number of patients to be educated about the various diseases and treatments, simply at the click of a button. The internet allows patients to look up information on hospitals and other health care facilities. Patients are able to research various physicians and see if they have the appropriate credentialing. Before the internet this task would have been tedious and complicated for most patients' to achieve. On the other hand, the internet has allowed these same health care facilities and physicians perform unlimited marketing to reach their patient base. Therefore, the internet has been very beneficial for both sides of the coin. High Tech Health Care Health care has become increasingly high tech with the use of the internet. E-mail is another piece of technology that has advanced health care delivery. E-mail has become a way of contacting physicians that are making patients and providers much happier. There is something comforting about being able to communicate with a physician by e-mail. It is a quick and easy process. Some medical offices even use secure websites to exchange messages with their patients. There is a fear by physicians that the use of e-mail to communicate with patients can overburden their already busy life. However, there is some evidence that the use of patient/doctor emails can reduce the need for office visits and increase a patient's participation in decision making on their medical care. Tele-Medicine Advances Tele-medicine is another huge advance that is affecting healthcare delivery. Tele-medicine offers a way to remotely care for patients without the need for costly medical visits. It has made independence more possible for the elderly and disabled patients that have a lack of outside assistance. Everyday thousands of patients are evaluated within the comfort of their own home through these tele monitoring systems. Diseases such as cardiac conditions, high blood pressure and diabetes are just a few that are being controlled through tele-medicine. It is now not uncommon for home health agencies to transfer all Medicare patients to their tele-health programs upon admission. This helps the home health agencies better meet the needs of the physicians and the patients. Also, physicians are getting a better idea of how their patients are doing once they leave their offices or hospitals and return to their home. All of these technological advances are just the beginning in the future of health care. It will be simply amazing to stand back and watch what the next advancements will be. This type of growth will have extraordinary outcomes for patients suffering from serious illness and disease. The cost of health care could also be impacted by reducing the overall costs. This is something that governmental agencies, insurance providers and taxpayers will all agree is very important. |
